Mississauga’s Canada Day celebrations were a huge success throughout all three venues: Paint the Town Red, Celebration Square and Streetsville. Paint the Town Red
About 40,000 residents gathered together to celebrate Paint the Town Red’s 11th annual Canada Day celebration in Port Credit. The streets were decked in red and white to kick off the day with the Hazel McCallion Canada Day Parade!
Floats, bands and entertainers paraded the route while politicians riding antique cars waved at the crowd. At the end of the parade route, a free vanilla cake with lemon filling and butter cream icing was enjoyed by residents. The 10-by-20-foot cake was put together the night before by La Villa Bakery and served roughly 5,000 people.
The parade kicked off a number of fun events including live entertainment, the Port Street Market, the kids’ stage at Memorial Park, the Classic Car Show n’ Shine and fireworks to end the night.

Celebration Square
Celebration Square was jam-packed on Canada Day as Leslie Roberts and Liza Fromer from Global News hosted the show to kick off a day filled with a Circo De Calle performance, Canadian cirque acts with mile-high stilt walkers, Mirror People and festival face painting.
All day long the official DJ for the Toronto Raptors, 4Korners, gave the Square live music. Entertainment was also provided by singers and bands like Mississauga-based rock band Aukland, pop singer Tyler Shaw and Canadian singer and songwriter Alyssa Reid.

Streetsville Canada Day Celebration
Streetsville’s Canada Day celebration was a family-filled event with children’s games and crafts, face painting, contests and prizes, free giveaways, a Rotary barbecue, a Lion’s Club birthday cake, live entertainment and more!
Mayor Hazel McCallion was on stage to sing old Canadian favourites like “Alouette” and “This Land Is Your Land” along with the Mississauga Choral Society.
Conservative MP Brad Butt was also there to update constituents on what’s going on in Parliament Hill, and Ward 11 Councillor George Carlson was also at the event to greet the residents of Mississauga.
