On February 11, MP Wladyslaw Lizon joined special guests and Living Arts Centre (LAC) staff in announcing funding from the Government of Canada to support improvements to the LAC through the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund. With the $580,000 provided, the LAC will purchase and install upgrades to the sound systems for Hammerson Hall, one of the LAC’s main performance spaces.

“The Mississauga Living Arts Centre is an important and unique cultural space that provides people of the region with access to professional performing arts,” said MP Lizon. “I am pleased to announce our government is providing funding towards performing arts in our community and for the Living Arts Centre.”

“Our government is committed to improving physical conditions for artistic creativity and innovation so that artists can continue to pursue their craft,” said the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

This funding allows the LAC to upgrade their audio system and accommodate the technical needs to touring artists and local presenters. The LAC’s Hammerson Hall is one of the largest performance halls in the GTA, with seating for up to 1,315 people. As the leading performance outlet in Mississauga, the LAC hosts a number of local art organizations and community cultural groups including the Mississauga Choral Society, the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra, the Mississauga International Children’s Festival and 30 community organizations.
