Five Fun Facts

  1. On my first day as a paperboy at age 10, I discovered 120 old Playboy magazines in the garbage on my route and hauled them all home.
  2. In my former career I once knocked the artist-then-known-as-Prince to the ground by accident when he came out the door behind me. I left that tour rather quickly.
  3. Perhaps based on my former career I frequently (mis)quote music lyrics to describe life lessons or insights.
  4. For a guy who spent more than 30 years in the mean old world of rock ’n’ roll, I’m amazed how many times I’m accused of “dreaming in technicolour” when it comes to optimism about what “could be.” Then again, after 500 rock concerts maybe that is no surprise!
  5. While I cannot even imagine sailing the high seas like my forefathers did, I still never sleep very well unless I can see water out my window.

  5. Spent hours as a kid with her dad at a co-op workshop building miniature furniture while he built the real thing—now her son has inherited papa John’s talent.
