The City of Mississauga is planning to redevelop Streetsville’s Main Street Square, as part of the City’s Strategic Plan. Community engagement began back in 2012, led by 8-80 Cities, a firm specializing in community placemaking initiatives. Ideas captured from the public were incorporated into the design (see below).

The estimated $3.1 million project will include a number of upgrades including electrical connections and drinkable water, installing a sound system for site programming, relocating and refurbishing the cenotaph, and incorporating street furnishings and a designated performance area.

The revamp of Streetsville Square will increase tourism and traffic for local businesses and increase attendance at community events. The redevelopment will also expand the number of types of events that can take place in the square.
