When Kathy Hay, President and CEO of the Credit Valley Hospital Foundation, asked physician and community leader Colin Saldanha to host the organization’s annual donor recognition event, it was an offer he couldn’t refuse. On November 29, Saldanha’s Lorne Park home crowded with supporters, many of whom were abuzz with anticipation for the Foundation’s Laugh Out Loud gala, to be hosted by Howie Mandel on February 9, 2013.

Between cocktails and festive tunes, partygoers gave their attention to President and CEO of the Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre Michelle DiEmanuele, who spoke to the important role that Mississauga’s two top-tier hospitals play in the community.

“We were quite honoured to be asked,” says Saldanha. “Members of the Canadian Legion were in attendance, and thanked me for hosting. I said, ‘You as members of the Legion have contributed so much to this great country. As an immigrant,
I feel it’s my turn to assume the mantle from you.’”
