The three-day hockey event kicked off on Friday afternoon at the The Hershey Centre and featured an old-timers’ hockey tournament as well as a women’s hockey tournament, a free family skate, a Mississauga Steelheads game, and a youth skills clinic that ran during the day on Sunday.

Participants were also treated to visits by former Toronto Maple Leaf Mike Krushelnyski and Olympic gold medalist Tessa Bonhomme.

The weekend raised more than $200,000, which means that Scotiabank Skates has raised over $500,000 during the course of its three-year run. Money raised by the event goes to benefit the surgical oncology program at Trillium Health Partners and will help in developing four new surgical suites. All of this contributes to the Phase III expansion at Trillium Health Partners, Credit Valley Hospital.

Trillium Health Partners formed in July 2013 as an amalgamation of Trillium Health Centre Foundation and the Credit Valley Hospital Foundation. It currently includes The Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga Hospital and Queensway Health Centre.
