Chocolate is the product of the cacao tree fruit, which is found in tropical climates. The first documented use of cacao is accredited to the Toltec tribe in Mesoamerica as early as 600 BCE, mixed with chili peppers to create a unique drink with a spicy kick—teasing the palate and setting the foundation for what we know today as hot cocoa.

Since then, chocolate has continued to take a special place in our hearts and palates as a temptation we indulge in on special occasions—or if you’re like many, as part of a daily diet. We’ve had to limit our list, but here are five delectables guaranteed to satisfy the chocoholic in the crowd.
