Alright Mississauga, we’ve got a huge problem.

CBC has announced a cross-country contest calling all Canadian communities to participate, and earn points for their neighbourhood to win a natural playground, and the prestigious title as the Live Right Now Capital of Canada.

The Canadian Wildlife Federation, Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds, and Parks Canada have teamed up with CBC to award the winning community with a beautiful playground that will reflect the closest national park, and be designed according to the community’s needs. The park will feature trees, earth, and bedrock from across Canada, and will be an earthly paradise for Canadian wildlife and residents of all ages to enjoy.

Sounds pretty nice, doesn’t it? Especially when said natural playground is valued at more than $100,000. Too bad Mississauga hasn’t even made the Top 10 leader board. In fact, there hasn’t even been a Facebook group created to represent Mississauga, until now. (Ed note: Shameless self promotion. Again.)

To earn points for our City, visit liverightnow.ca and click on the “Connect with Facebook” button. From there, you can choose the community you’d like to earn points for (Mississauga, obviously), and then participate in Live Right Now challenges, or create Facebook groups and events to earn yourself and Mississauga some points—that we desperately need.

The challenges are divided into several categories, from food to physical activity, to weight loss and more. These challenges are designed to engage people in living a healthier lifestyle, which is exactly what the Live Right Now contest strives to promote.

Having full faith in my community, I believe we can break into the Top 10, and even win this fantastic prize for our City. But hurry, we don’t have much time. The communities with the most points from each province and territory (a.k.a. the top 13) will be announced on March 19.

May the Spirit of City help us all.
