The Port Credit In-Water Boat Show capped off its 23rd show with strong sales in the larger boat category. The only show of its kind, the PC Boat Show provides brokers and dealers with a great venue to sell any non-current inventory, allowing decks to be cleared for new boat models.

“Even though crowds were down slightly, buyers still came and bought boats,” said Lori Mason, show manager. The show estimates that 12 boats were sold over the weekend. “There’s always an ‘after-shop’ in any show as well, so we estimate that sales will be even stronger,” said Mason.

The Speaker’s Tent, sponsored by Informedboater.com, was bustling with activity all weekend long. Returning host, Rob McLeod pulled together a stellar list of speakers including Sheryl Shard, Wally Moran and Craig Hamilton who shared the boating lifestyle on everything from cruising on the French Canals to travelling to Cuba to managing your powerboat.

New this year—and a late entry to the show—was the Mercury Marine Prop-mobile, exhibiting for the first time in Canada. All boaters had to do was identify their engine and the Mercury Prop specialists would help them identify the correct props required.

Also taking part this year was Boating Ontario, with the Welcome to the Water kiosk for new boaters, and the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron who administered the PCOC test.

Even thought the weather was great—attracting many people onto the water—several serious buyers made it a successful weekend. The land display exhibitors were pleased with the quality of visitors showing serious interest in the many services and products that were being featured.

“We are pleased that our show helped move some inventory while introducing new folks to boating,” said Mason. “We’re already planning some interesting new features for next year.”

The 24th Port Credit In-Water boat show is planned for August 22-24 at the Port Credit Harbour Marina. Visit their website for more info.
